Book Review: A Parents’ Guide to Baby-Led Weaning

I am very excited to share with you this book review of A Parents’ Guide to Baby-Led Weaning written by fellow Canadian registered dietitian Jennifer House MSc. RD.

The Parents’ Guide to Baby-Led Weaning by Jennifer House RD

Jennifer has taken the time to adapt really important concepts into an easy to read book presented in small bite sized pieces. All new moms know that time is a luxury and in my experience I always found it was difficult to sit down and get through a lot of information with limited time.

Every moment you have with A Parents’ Guide to Baby-Led Weaning will give you important information that is easy to digest. And when I did forget something I read the layout in A Parents’ Guide to Baby-Led Weaning made it easy to navigate to go back over a topic, find a concept or a specific piece of information.

As an advocate of baby-led weaning I enjoyed finding that Jennifer provides all of the most up-to-date information on feeding solids including how to navigate purees and textures with emphasis on the most important nutrients, which includes iron.

A Parents’ Guide to Baby-Led Weaning is not just a resource book with the why’s of starting solids but more importantly the how-to’s of starting solids with 125 recipes. As a bonus there are daily menu ideas included that give you all the tools you need to navigate the feeding world using responsive feeding.

Jennifer provides an expert opinion and inclusive options for parents using all feeding methods. I would have to say that this book is a must-have resource for all parents starting solids and with goals to encourage a healthy relationship with food, right from the first bite.
